Grand Rounds: Dysphagia

Where: Alexander Hall Auditorium, Murray State University, Murray KY

 

In this two-hour workshop, participants will examine four cases that illustrate various aspects of assessment, treatment and team management of dysphagia. The case studies and the grand rounds format will give participants the opportunity to further develop critical thinking about assessment and treatment of dysphagia. Emphasis will be on the medical aspects of patient management.

 

Learning objectives: Upon completion of the course, attendees will be able to:

  • describe swallowing disorders arising from surgical treatment;
  • explain how to modify assessment of dysphagia to address physiologic changes following tracheotomy;
  • identify treatment plans and strategies to address swallowing disorders arising from surgical treatment.
