President’s Message

Welcome to the Kentucky Speech-Language-Hearing Association (KSHA).

Did you know KSHA is one of the largest state associations of SLPs and AuDs in the country? With over 1300 members strong, KSHA’s history dates to 1956 making the Association 68 years old this year. Those years have been marked by growth, education, advocacy, and advancements in the field and for our members. During the 2024-2025 year, KSHA will continue to educate, engage, and empower its members through advocacy events, continuing education opportunities, consistent communication, and collaboration. If you are a current member, thank you for your service to the professions of speech-language pathology and audiology in Kentucky. If you are not a member, check out our Member Center to learn more about the benefits we would love to share with you.

I attended my first KSHA Convention in 2005 and knew I wanted to serve the profession in ways I saw others serving the Association. I started small by volunteering to assist with editing our bi-annual publication, The KSHA Communicator, and then assumed positions on the Executive Council including treasurer, scholarship committee and chair, and convention co-chair. When others gauged my interest in running for president in the past, the time wasn’t right or I wasn’t ready. In stepping into the role of your president in 2024, I am confident the time is right and I am ready to assist our Association and members in continuing to set the P.A.C.E. for speech-language pathologists and audiologists across Kentucky.

KSHA will do our best to support you – our members – and more importantly, the communities we love and serve every day. Be sure to join us on social media via Facebook, Instagram, and X to stay informed of all things happening in the world of Kentucky’s SLPs and AuDs.

Warmly,
Leigh Anne Roden, EdD, CCC-SLP
