Make a Difference by Joining the Executive Council Team

Interested in helping to guide the future of KSHA and representing your fellow colleagues on important issues within your profession? Then consider running for office. KSHA has become a strong organization due to the many volunteers that have stepped into an Executive Council position and taken on a leadership role.

The Executive Council will be seeking candidates for the 2022 elections beginning in the fall of 2021. Watch for an e-blast from KSHA’s President announcing the opening of the nominations period.

KSHA members will have the opportunity to select the next board members for the following positions:

  • President-Elect: 3 year term
    Shall work with the President and Past President to provide leadership, guidance and support to all Executive Council members to ensure the direction and all goals which are in the best interest of KSHA and all KSHA members, are addressed and/or achieved.
  • Treasurer-Elect: 2 year term
    Shall work with the Treasurer to develop, monitor and administer an annual budget adopted by the Executive Council.
  • Secretary-Elect: 2 year term
    Shall work with the Secretary to take the meeting minutes and provide a written report of such meetings.
  • VP of Higher Education: 2 year term
    Shall work with the President and make recommendations to the Board regarding student and academic issues. Duties include promoting developments in higher education including increasing student advocacy, supporting student research projects as well as organization of the student poster presentations at the annual Convention.
  • VP of Health Care: 2 year term
    Shall work with the President and serve as a source of information on health care issues for the Board and KSHA members. Duties include monitoring and reporting on issues related to healthcare funding, including early intervention, Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance, and responding to emails or other queries related to health care topics at the delegation of the President.
  • VP of Schools: 2 year term
    Shall work with the President and address the needs of school-based members who are speech-language pathologist and audiologists employed in Kentucky. Duties include monitoring and responding to changes in Kentucky’s education codes and other legislative bills, addressing individual members’ concerns, and educating consumers about the roles speech-language pathologists and audiologists play in the schools.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Able to serve a multi-year term. All terms begin August 1, 2022.
  • Must be a KSHA Member who is a Full or Full Life Member and is in good standing
  • Must be able to attend Board Meetings
